What is Functional Fitness (FF)?
Functional fitness, or functional training, is about improving the body's ability to perform daily activities. The training focuses on movements that mimic those we do in everyday life, such as lifting, bending, climbing, or reaching.
The goal is to enhance strength, mobility, balance, and endurance through exercises that involve multiple muscle groups simultaneously. This can include movements like squats, deadlifts, burpees, and kettlebell swings. Functional fitness combines elements of strength training, gymnastics, and endurance in the same workout. By training this way, you can improve your functional capacity, making it easier to handle physical challenges in daily life and reducing the risk of injury.
The training is suitable for EVERYONE. Participants in FF classes can work at their own level. FF is also a great complement to other sports.
To join FF training at Verkstadsgymmet, you must first complete a fundamentals course in functional fitness. In this course, you’ll learn what functional fitness is and get familiar with the key movements and techniques. Even if you’ve trained a lot at the gym before, you should take a fundamentals course before starting FF. FF differs significantly from regular gym training, both in terms of technique and terminology.
After the fundamentals course, you’ll have the knowledge you need for the training sessions to run smoothly and efficiently.
The goal of FF is to sweat, have fun, and feel a sense of community with your training partners.
